When you arrive at the clinic you will be greeted by our receptionist and checked in. There is water available and a key code for the restrooms down the hallway. Diana will meet you in reception.
Diana will review your intake form, ask questions, and answer your questions. Although some questions may seem irrelevant, they are asked to understand and help to make a holistic diagnosis. If possible, please wear loose-fitting clothes so you can roll your pant legs and shirtsleeves up. You will be asked to remove jewelry, take off your socks and/or remove some clothing, and lay on a treatment table. You will always be covered and kept warm.
As well as asking questions Diana will evaluate your pulses, tongue and may palpate some body parts. This is done to gather information for your unique acupuncture prescription. A treatment plan will be made and one of the following treatments may be given [link to treatments page]. Acupuncture treatment involves placing hair-thin, sterile, single-use acupuncture needles along a series of points along the body. Generally, you will rest with the needles in place for approximately 20 minutes.
At the end of the session future treatments may be discussed. It is best not to plan any strenuous activities or drink alcohol on your treatment day.
If you feel uncomfortable in any way during the treatment, please tell us as there may be some way to make you feel more comfortable.
