Acupuncture
Acupuncture is Powerful Medicine.
Classical Acupuncture is powerful medicine that treats ailments, promotes constitutional health and serves to prevent disease and increases the quality of people’s lives. Originating in China over 3,000 years ago, acupuncture is a well-developed health care system based on the energetic laws of nature.
According to Chinese Medical theory there is a vital energy called “Qi” (pronounced chee) flowing through the body. This energy flows in a network of channels called meridians that run along the surface of the body, through muscle and connective tissue to the organ networks at the body’s core. Good health depends on the smooth flow of this Qi. When your Qi is disturbed, obstructed or imbalanced, maladies and illness may result. Acupuncture, the practice of placing fine sterile needles, or applying heat, at strategic points on the meridians helps restore balance and harmonize the body’s natural energy. Symptoms often resolve and well balanced freely circulating energy returns the body and mind to its natural vitality.
Trigger Point Acupuncture
Trigger point acupuncture is used to assist the healing of injuries and to relieve muscle tension and pain. It uses myofascial and muscle trigger points to ease constriction, relax fascia and muscles, and open meridian pathways.
Acupressure
Acupressure is a good choice for people who are uncomfortable with needles, for children, or for those who prefer massage. The same diagnostic tools are used as for acupuncture, but rather than needles, only pressure and massage is applied to the meridians and acupuncture points. During an acupressure session, you lie fully clothed on a soft massage table. The goal of acupressure is to restore health and balance by regulating the Qi flowing through the meridians.
Chinese Herbal Therapy
Patent herbal formulas may be prescribed. All herbal remedies are time-tested classical formulas used for modern day issues or modern formulations based on classical formulas.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a practice that stimulates acupuncture points in order to promote the body's ability to heal itself. Moxibustion involves the burning of moxa, which consists of dried leaves from mugwort or wormwood plants that have been formed into a small cone or cigar-like shape. The radiant heat produced by the burning herbs penetrates deeply into the body, where it helps restore the balance and flow of Qi. Moxibustion is very relaxing and restorative.
Cupping
Cupping is a therapy where local suction is applied to the skin to mobilize blood flow in order to promote healing. Sometimes, while the suction is active, the cup is slowly moved - this is called gliding cupping.
Cupping removes stagnation in the body and opens the meridians so that Qi can flow freely. It is often used for pain relief, respiratory problems, and circulation. It is used to rejuvenate certain meridians and organs that are not functioning at their best. From a scientific standpoint, cupping is used to activate the lymphatic system, promote blood circulation, and which may result deep tissue repair.
